A change of routine, Kaitlyn Luft, Jensen Bee and Rachel Altice perform a competition dance with the rest of Golden Line at the boys varsity basketball game. “I like performing, especially at basketball games, because we can show everyone our competition dance. It shows the school how hard we work and that we don’t just perform at halftime of football games. The dances have true emotion instead of just a dance for fun,” Bee said. “I really like Golden Line because of the girls on it. We are one team. We know how to work well together and are this family. We trust each other, and it is beneficial--especially in high school--to have that support system.”

Kaitlyn Schormann (11) participates in an activity in Fashion 3 class inspired by the Rachel’s Challenge assembly, Jan. 5, writing a letter to herself to read in five years. “The letter I wrote was about how I am changing and want to spread kindness throughout my whole life,” Shormann said. “It is just a reminder that I should live my whole life spreading joy. College is going to be hard because I want to go into the fashion industry and will have to make a lot of hard decisions. The letter is reminding me that kindness is a chain reaction. In five years, I might be jobless and in student debt in a horrible mindset, and this letter will show me how the world is full of opportunities. I just need to go through life with an open mind and the intent to spread happiness.”

Senior night in progress, Julia Wizeman swims her last 100m breaststroke of the night, Jan.2. “I like the people on the team more than the sport,” Wizeman says. “The sport isn’t always the best because it is winter and the water is always cold. We get out of practice and we’re cold, and we go outside and our hair freezes, which isn’t always fun. Celebrating senior night is my favorite night out of all of the swim meets. We had a great group of seniors and being able to thank them for their dedication to the team is so much fun. They deserve to know how awesome they are.”

“Rockin around the Christmas Tree” playing over the speakers, Stephanie Lubinski leads Golden Line during their half-time performance at the boys varsity basketball game, Dec. 11. “I enjoyed getting to make it up with my best friend Elle,” Lubinski said. “It is different than most dances because there is less stress when performing since it is just for fun. All the moves were fun to do and the costumes were cute. A home game in December hasnt happened in a while [since recovery from two floods made the gym unavailable], so it was really exciting to finally be able to do this dance. I enjoyed getting to spread the cheer with my teammates.”

I have always loved it. It is fun to win, but practice can be hard work. The people on my team are fun, so it is not bad to work.” The Wildcats lost, 74-69.

Deepa Bhuvanagiri, backstroke, starts the meet against Lafayette, Nov. 28. “I love the swim meets,” Bhuvanagiri said. “It is fun to cheer for your teammates when they are swimming. I have been swimming since I was a little kid so it just made sense to join the swim team at school. It is a way to keep me swimming because I wouldn’t have time outside of school. It gets hectic during season because we are doing morning and afternoon practice but it is still fun.” The Wildcats lost.

It is also to recognize all that the Veterans have done for our country.” Nelson (11) said. “My step father was a Navy veteran and has taken over as a fatherly role in my life since I do not talk to my biological father anymore. He took me in as his own. He means a lot to me especially with everything he has done for our country.”

Jordan Bee, Stephanie Lubinski, and Elle Baker (12) hit a toe touch at Golden Line’s halftime performance at the varsity football game against Lindbergh, Nov. 3. “When the band walks off the field its kind of like our stage,” Lubinski said. “The lights make the crowd and all my surrounds blurry, and I can feel the energy off of my teammates. The anticipation before the music starts builds up, surrounding us. When we start dancing, I can feel our energy off of everyone. I enjoy the feeling of dancing as large and strong as I can. When I do a kick or a trick and the crowd cheers, it pushes me to stretch my legs farther, hit my moves stronger and smile bigger. Overall, I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment after I dance because of how hard my teammates and I worked to construct an intricate dance.”

Searching for the biggest in the patch, Bryce McCarty, Video Production staff, holds up a pumpkin during the EHS Publication’s staff gathering at Chesterfield Valley Pumpkin Patch, Oct. 29. “I liked playing connect four and winning,” McCarty said. “I only knew a couple of people, but then I got to meet everyone. It was cool to see the whole staff come together and bond on one day. I didn’t know everyone that well, but at the end we were better friends.” McCarty was the winner of the third annual EHS Publications Pumpkin Decorating Contest with his carving of “Stranger Thing’s” 11; although he decorated a smaller pumpkin.

It was something you don’t do often. I wasn’t nervous. I play with fire so it is something I was used to. I like to see all the chemical reactions in fire and watching things burn.”

If someone does something wrong in a game, everybody would be right there to bring their confidence back up. I personally liked the confidence boost because it reminded me that I have an entire family of a team that will always have my back.” The Wildcats lost, 4-1.

Elle Baker (12) performs a hip hop routine with the rest of Golden Line’s during the Homecoming Pep Assembly, Oct. 6. “Everything we had been trying for and choreographed for ourselves was put out there,” Baker said. “I was so nervous because we were in front of all our peers and they could see if one of us messed up. It is the only time we are front and center at school. Homecoming Week we all nickname “Hell Week” because it is so stressful. We practice so hard that week, over and over until its perfect, and when it is over we can just take a big sigh and relax. When the performance is done its just in the moment, and we all our so proud of ourselves.”
