‘On Stranger Tides’ is refreshing, new ‘Pirates’ movie is epic as always

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger tides’ is exactly what you would expect. Thrill, suspense and romance packed into another adventurous Pirates movie. With a new cast including Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Astrid Berges-Frisbey and a new director, Rob Marshall, the cast splashes into this summer with new adventures to new places.

Shooting from Hawaii to England and Puerto Rico to California the sights in this movie are exquisite, changing from open sea to rain forest. The story line provides for a lot of scene change and the scenes are a joy to watch within themselves.

Key characters played by actors Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley are absent in this film. While one might think a change like this would dampen the spirits of the story line, ‘On Stranger Tides’ is refreshing. Johnny Depp’s is forced to make his character even more ruthless and independent in the absence of Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner and the result is a deliciously bad-to-the-bone portrayal of a man whole truly leads his life on whim.

With a new perspective on Jack Sparrow, pardon me CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, comes new enemies as well, including the Spaniard’s and mermaids. Enemies and romance alike threaten to slow the pirates in there hunt for the fountain of youth. With two countries: England and Spain, and a band of pirates led by Black Beard, himself, all searching for the same mystical monument, the film is a race to the finish line. Alliances change throughout the movie, leaving viewers with goosebumps. The crew comes to find that it’s more difficult to get what you want when others want it too.

The action scenes get wilder and wilder as the crew moves more towards the fountain of youth, the finale coming as a complete shock. While Black Beard attempts to enslave Johnny Depps crew to get him to the fountain of youth before his enemy, the English fleet creeps up on them ready to strike while the spaniards prep to battle for their shot at the fountain of youth. With the swashbuckling crew getting together again, the results are always epic in the hands of the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).
