With spring break just around the corner, students of EHS are ready to escape the cold winter we ather for a warmer, more carefree environment. As they gear up for their much-needed break, Wildcats share their travel destinations, tips on how to make the most of spring vacation, and more. This break promises to offer a balance of fun, relaxation, and adventure.
Maddie Rakey, 11, shared her plans for the break. “I’m going to Santa Rosa, and I plan to go to the beach and eat good food,” Rakey said. Santa Rosa is a very popular destination due to its stunning beaches, and diverse activities.
“I would try not to get sun burnt, because it’s really miserable,” Rakey added. Getting sunburnt on vacation is almost inevitable unless one takes the proper precautions to prevent it. Things such as wearing sunscreen, UV protective clothing, and staying in the shade can help combat the inconvenience. Being mindful and planning for the weather in advance to reaching the destination is always a must.
Audrey Kreher, 12, explained what she’s planning to do over her break. “I’m going to Marco Island, and I’m going to go see a day of Cardinals’ spring training, and go to the beach.”
“Spend as much time as you can outside, because this is such good weather; especially before it gets too hot out,” said Kreher. Marco Island offers a variety of things to do, including several highly rated restaurants, shopping destinations, and boat tours, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and adventure.
Kiya Bradshaw, 12, explained how to make the most of the break. “Definitely space things out so that you have something to do every day.” Having something to do every day during the break can help combat the boredom that often accompanies the long road trips or flights. Having a destination with lots of attractions makes the long travels more bearable. For example, Bradshaw recommends checking out local attractions or planning day trips to nearby towns, which keeps the trip fresh and exciting without being overly rushed.
Liam McAuliffe, 12, shared his favorite spring break memory. “Colorado last year has to be my favorite. I got to snowboard and it was just so fun.” Surprisingly, Colorado is a very popular location for a spring vacation, despite the cold and dry air. The state’s snowy mountains, and snowboarding and skiing resorts offer tourists an exhilarating escape. Even during spring, the mountains are always snow-capped, which is great for thrill seekers planning for a vacation.
Often, students and their families are looking for a warmer climate after a long winter. Other students’ favorite vacations were more tropical, as beach destinations tend to be the top choice for relaxation and enjoyment purposes.
“My favorite spring break was my 8th grade year when I went to Seaside. It was my first time there and it was super exciting,” said Kreher.
Whether it’s soaking up the sun on the beach or discovering new destinations, students are looking forward to a well-deserved break full of adventure and relaxation.
