Humans of Eureka | Brad Klages

“When I was a sophomore in high school, I wanted to be a fighter pilot, but then thinking about it more I couldn’t even handle the upside down rides at Six Flags without being sick. So then I turned that into maybe I should be an engineer to help build the fighter planes, but my math teacher went to college to be an engineer and he told me how boring it was. By the time I was a senior, I decided to be a teacher. My mom was a teacher for a long time and she said not to be a social studies teacher because back then you had to be a football coach or teach P.E. to be a history teacher. So then I thought about English, but it seemed like a lot of work to read all the essays and other work, and I didn’t want to do that, so I choose math. And I was a math teacher for 21 years before I decided to be an administrator at Eureka.”
