Graduating High School opens up a world of opportunities. While the traditional route of attending college, there are numerous other paths that can lead to success. Many students at Eureka High School are doing some very interesting things with their time after graduation. Some are going to the military, trade school, aviation school, the navy and so many more.

Kelia King,12 Is going into trade school to be an aesthetician. When students are doing untraditional post-high-school options, having a support system is very important when making a big decision about a student’s future.
“Ms. Ramirez says that in order to make other people feel beautiful, you need to have good energy. She’s been a really big support for me,,” King said.
Another important thing to think about when it comes to seniors’ careers and what they’re doing for the rest of their life is where they see themself in a few years. High school seniors often need to reflect on their future considering their goals, interests and the steps needed to achieve them, like choosing the right college or career path.
“I see myself as a business owner because I’m going to learn everything and then go to business school and then run my own business,” King said.
Vinnie Reis, 12, is going to aviation school to become a pilot. Pilot school has always been a part of Reiss’s life and that was a big inspiration for him.
“My cousin actually went there, and he’s a pilot now. So it’s been a big inspiration for me and kind of cut things out for what I wanted to do when I’m older,.” Reiss said.
Some may argue that college is automatically the next step for people coming out of High School but that may not be the case and more people should look into more untraditional post-high-school options.
“I think there’s a lot of great careers out there that some people might not even know about, and I think it’s definitely worth looking into and checking out,” Reiss said.
Asher Leonard, 12,, going into the navy for nuclear power.
“I don’t think it’s for everyone, but I think if you’re not looking forward to college or college doesn’t seem like something for you, it’s definitely a good opportunity to look into more untraditional ways,” Leonard said.
Jack Pennington, 12, is going to trade school for construction.
Family can be a really big support for seniors when it comes to finishing up High School and choosing their career path. Sometimes a student’s family can play a big role in what they want to do with their future. Family support helps high school seniors with financial aid, emotional encouragement and advice, leading to less stress and better decisions.
“ My uncle has been in construction his whole life, and I had the opportunity to work for him and this trade school is going to help me get there,” Pennington said.
After high school there are so many directions seniors can go. There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to students’ futures and what they love to do. After high school they can explore many different options and talk to mentors. Seniors can consider internships to gain more experience with the things they love. Seniors paths might change and align more with their strengths and interests and that will point in the right direction for the next step.

“I really like skin care and making people feel good about themselves,” King said.
