Nobody really talks about how quickly senior year goes by. Everyone says that senior year is “our year” and how much of a blast it is, but nobody mentioned how soon it would be over. Before you know it, it’s been a year and you are nearing graduation. Another thing that nobody mentions is how you don’t feel any different than in other years of school. There’s this strange belief that in senior year of high school, you’ll suddenly transform into an adult, ready to make huge life choices and ready to leave your childhood behind.

But in reality, being a senior is really no different than being a junior, except you have to make major decisions that will impact the rest of your life. You don’t feel like an adult, just a kid with a lot of responsibilities. It’s definitely scary for a while but it’s important to remember that it’s scary for everyone. Nobody has it all figured out and nobody has all the answers.

I think prom was overhyped, people are trying too hard to have a perfect night with all of their friends. All the anxieties of finding an overpriced dress or suit and wearing it for 4 hours just to return it.

I think some things that aren’t talked about during senior year is applying for college. They talked about it once and then we just kind of had to fend for ourselves. Seniors in the past talked a lot about senioritis. I never knew how bad it was going to be until I was living in it. I am genuinely so done with this year and I have been for the past 3 months. A senior event that I thought was overhyped was the senior vs staff games just because not everyone can get the chance to play in it.

I think the thing that’s not talked about senior year is how close everyone gets. People start to realize they’re probably not gonna see these people for a while, and they start talking and hanging out more to make up for the time they’ll lose. I used to think I wouldn’t get senioritis. But no matter how busy you keep your schedule it will hit you like a freight train. Senior skip days are overhyped, I think they’re all fun but I found skip days more annoying than anything cause I couldn’t skip.
