In an email to EHS staff, Dr. Sebold, formerly chosen Principal for 2011-2012 school year, announced that Mrs. Ann Gilman has been named the assistant principal for the 2011-2012 school year, May 20.
“I’ve been interested in a position at Eureka High School for a few years,” Mrs. Gilman said. “What I found that I really liked about the school is that when I walked in, I felt welcomed. I felt like a part of this family even though I was working in a different building.”
Ms. Gilman has been at teacher at Lafayette High School for twelve years. She has been involved at NHS at Lafayette and is also active in her PLC, professional learning community.
“It is hard for me to let go of [LHS NHS] because it is very near and dear to my heart,” Mrs. Gilman said. “But I hope I can invest my energy and that kind of time into a program here whether it be flex, NHS, or a program that hasn’t been thought of yet.”
Ms. Gilman will be taking the position of Ms. Nisha Patel, who is moving to the associate principal position at Lafayette High School. Although Ms. Gilman has never been an administrator, she has been exposed to administration at Eureka.
“I was fortunate enough to be positioned as a mentee to Mrs. Deb Asher, your associate principal,” Mrs. Gilman said. “She has been mentoring me this past semester so I could get to know administrators and the school itself.”
Mrs. Gilman will be new assistant principal as of July 1.
