Here at EHS we take pride in our staff, and now we get to know them with their “last ten”.

What was the last restaurant you visited? “McDonald’s.”

  • Do you go out to breakfast a lot? “Not tons. I will grab McDonald’s every now and then. Occasionally on the weekend my mom, wife and I will go get some food or me and my stepdad will. I wouldn’t say a lot for breakfast though, mostly for other meals.”
  • Do you remember what you ordered? “I got a sausage McGriddle value meal.”

What was the last TV show or movie you watched? “I watched ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ last night before I went to bed.”

  • Who is your favorite character on ‘Malcolm in the Middle?’ “The dad; he was in ‘Breaking Bad.’”
  • Do you watch “Breaking Bad too?” “I did. I thought it was alright. I thought it was a little overhyped. I heard it was the best show ever, but it was just okay.”

What was the last thing you ate? “My wife made me a manicotti cannelloni mix that I had leftover for lunch today.”

  • Does your wife usually cook you dinner? “Sometimes we’ll go out. She cooks more than I do because she is a better cook than I am. A couple days a week she’ll cook. I’ll cook once a week, and then we’ll go out once a week or so. We also have leftovers every now and then, too.”
  • What do you tend to eat a lot of? “I like pizza, but we don’t always get what I want. She is from Texas, so she can make a lot of things that I wasn’t really used to. Wonderful things! She mixes it up a lot. I’m good at making chicken. I can make chicken marsala or lemon chicken. She can just make anything.”

What was the last thing you did at your former job or school? “I was actually an assistant here at Eureka for five years before I got this job.”

  • What subjects were you assisting in at your prior job? “For six years I went around and helped out one student through all their classes. Last year I helped out in history, math, personal finance for a semester and took over for a science position right after spring break last year. Which is where I am now along with history.”
  • Now you just help with the science and history? “Yeah. I am a co-teacher now for four physical science classes, and I also co-teach the U.S. government class. I was a History major in college and am also certified in Math and Elementary Education.”

Who was the last person you shared a phone call with? “My wife.”

Who was the last person you hugged? “My wife.”

  • How did you and your wife meet? “We met online actually. I never would have thought I would’ve met someone from Texas, and she hadn’t planned on meeting anyone from outside of Texas. It was really crazy, but ended up working really well with just over 13 months of marriage.  We got married last July in Fort Worth. It was really cool because we got married in the science center in the planetarium. It was pretty hot, so we got to get married under the stars in a very nice cool setting and we were able to put up whatever stars we wanted. At the end of it her dad had set up a surprise where they put off fireworks in the planetarium sky above us. It was really neat. It was the first time they had ever had a wedding in there, but she thought that would be a really fun idea so we went with it.”
  • How long have you been together? “We got married on July thirteenth of 2013. We were together about a year before that.”
  • What do you guys like to do together? “We like to play games. She loves board games. We have been traveling like crazy lately, between visiting her family in Texas, my family in Virginia and Indiana. My brother just got married in Chicago, and he lives in Milwaukee. We haven’t had a free weekend  in a while. Also, I love TV and movies, so I force her to sit down and watch them with me. We also spend time with our family here so we don’t have to travel all the time. A lot of my brothers and sisters are having babies so we like to visit them and see their family.

What was the last store you went to? “I went to CVS last night.”

  • Do you remember what you got at CVS? “I had to pick up a prescription, and I think I got some Diet Coke.”
  • Do you go there a lot? “Really just for our prescriptions because it’s just right by the house. I tend to do my grocery shopping other places. I feel like CVS is one of those places where other than getting prescriptions it’s never the best place to go because it is always a little more expensive, but if you have to run in real quick because it’s close then you’ll end up going there. For groceries we usually go to a grocery store and for supplies we usually go to a Target.

What was the last soda you drank? “Diet Pepsi right now.”

  • Do you enjoy Diet pepsi more than Diet Coke? “I kind of alternate them on and off. Really whatever is on sale I tend to choose. My favorite is Caffeine Free Diet Coke or maybe Cherry Dr. Pepper, but I try not to drink that too much because it’s a billion grams of sugar. I definitely don’t need more of that. Caffeine Free Diet Coke is probably my favorite, but I definitely like Diet Pepsi. It’s nice to mix it up every now and then, so whatever is on sale and whatever is cheaper.

What was the last out of state place you visited? “Chicago for my brother’s wedding last weekend.”

  • Did your wife go with you to the wedding? “Yeah. She left earlier than I did. My parents and her drove up because I had to work, so I flew up after work and met with them then we all rode back together. She was there and my dad flew up from Florida.”
  • Is your brother older than you? “He is just under two years older than me.”
  • Who was the troublemaker of the family? “We both took turns trouble making as much as we could. Blaming everything on the other one. It depends on which one you ask. We shared it equally. We had different ways of getting in trouble. He was really good at manipulating me, and I had a really short fuse. I got angry really quickly, so there were a lot of times when he would instigate and pester me to make me do something to get in trouble. Sometimes parents are actually smarter than kids and they notice things like that. We both caused a pretty good amount of mayhem together.”
  • Do you have any other siblings? “I had two other step brothers, but one of them passed away. I still have one stepbrother and two stepsisters, and they’re all married now and all of them have kids. Both my parents were married a few times, so I had two other stepbrothers from my dad’s first marriage and another stepsister and stepbrother from his other marriage after that and a stepsister from my mom’s first remarriage. I have had a lot of siblings, but right now I’ve got my brother, two stepsisters, my stepbrother and my other stepbrother that passed away. They are all older than me except the one that passed away.”

Who was the last person you communicated with over social media? “My wife on facebook.”

  • Do you go on facebook a lot? “I really don’t. I had been on Facebook just because my mom had told me to look at the pictures she had put up from the wedding. I used to be on it a lot more. Now I just use it because some of my cellphone games hook into it and occasionally to look at pictures”
