The rise in global warming causes increases in flash floods. The EHS community experienced the changes during the 2017 flood, May 3.

The flood of 2017 is quickly becoming the largest natural disaster to occur in Eureka within recent memory, eclipsing the flood that occurred in 2015. With such a large incident taking place so suddenly, the community has quickly rallied and volunteered their time sandbagging businesses and local homes. While there is still monumental work to be done, residents and first-responders are doing everything in their power to minimize damage and keep Eureka citizens safe.
