Atrium no longer in use for Flex, breaks fire codes
The EHS administration sent out an email telling students, staff and families of the closure of the atrium during Flex time, Sept. 13.
Before, the atrium area had been set up with tables and chairs and was intended for use as a place for students to study in a group setting.
Recently, however, the Eureka Fire Department voiced the concern to EHS that the commotion caused by the tables and chairs violated fire code.
Students are now encouraged to report to classrooms, quiet study areas or the library during Flex time. If they are looking to be in a larger group, students can meet in the commons, atrium (without chairs and tables) or the courtyard.
