Fall Sports Capsule
Boys Cross Country
The boys cross country team placed sixth during districts at Brookdale Farms, Oct. 26. The team scored 141 points.
Gabriel Luzynski (12), Nicholas Corley (10), and Andrew Thom (12) will represent Eureka at sectionals at Parkway Central High School, Saturday, Nov. 2.
Girls Cross Country
The girls cross country team had made a stance as they are ranked second in the state of Missouri.
The XC team took first place in districts, Oct. 26, with a total of a low score of 35 points. All varsity took place in the Top 21 and will head to sectionals, Saturday, Nov. 2, also at Parkway Central High School.
Leah Kleekamp (10), Anna Lombardo (11), Savannah Lesher (11) Kayla Voelker (11), Haley Wrob (10), Erika Wrob (10), and Kylie Ghormley (11) will represent Eureka at sectionals.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team sent one girl to state in hopes of a state medal. Harper Lashley (11) won her sectional match and qualified for state. She took the Top 16 in state, as she won one out of her three matches, Oct. 25th.
Lashley is the first girl from Eureka girls tennis to qualify for the state tournament.
Faith Orso (11) and Emma Feltz (9) took second in districts and Lauren Ulrich (10) took second in singles. Eva McNamee (12) and Hanna Grossnicklaus (12) failed to qualify for sectionals after finishing fourth in districts. All advanced to sectionals where they lost the chance to go to state.
The varsity team finished the season 4-8.
Football
The varsity football team moved down from Class 6 to Class 5 at the beginning of the season. The team’s lone loss came from Fort Zumwalt West in Week 1.
The team will get a bye in the first round of the district playoffs and will host their first district playoff game, Friday, Nov. 8.
The team ended their 2018 season with a loss to Kirkwood in the District Championship.
After their final win against Seckman, the regular season wraps up 8-1.
Girls Volleyball
The varsity girls volleyball team is searching for consistency as they head towards the playoffs.
They have two four-game winning streaks in both September and October but have suffered losses recently to Lindbergh and St. Joseph’s Academy.
The Wildcats start district play, Tuesday, Oct 29. The team hosts a loaded district with state finalist Lafayette. EHS has beaten Lafayette previously this year.
The team won the Class 4 State Championship last year, beating Lafayette in straight sets.
Excluding playoffs, the team wraps up a 18-9 record.
Girls’ Softball
The softball team came into districts with a hot five game winning streak for the second time this season. The team crushed Parkway West 11-1, Oct.17, in semi-final districts.
They went on to play at Parkway South and suffered a close, season-ending loss to Marquette, 9-8, Oct. 18.
The team’s record stands at 16-6-1.
Girls Field Hockey
Field Hockey concluded their season with a loss to Nerinx Hall 5-0, Oct. 26, in the Round of 16. Leading up to the loss, the team defeated Lutheran South, 7-0 and Oakville 1-0.
The team reached the Sweet 16 of the Midwest Tournament for the first time in team history.
The team concludes a 8-7 record.
Girls Golf
The girls golf team season ended as Jillian Oligschlaeger (12), Sarah Biscan (11), and Nicole Shirley (11) placed in the Top 15 at Districts Oct. 8 and lost at sectionals in Columbia.
The team placed first at the Farmington Matchplay Invitational Tournament at Crowne Point in September.
The Wildcats season comes to an end with a 7-4 record.
Boys Swimming
The Aquacats start conference, Tuesday, Nov. 5 and Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Kirkwood High School, with hopes to qualify for State, Friday, Nov. 15.
The team defeated Christan Brother College High School in their meet Oct. 22. Additionally, the team won both the Summit Quad meet and the Rockwood Summit Invitational.
The boys will have high hopes to qualify for the state meet at the St. Peters RecPlex.
Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team wants to finish strong before they head into playoffs. The boys wrap up the regular season, Tuesday, Oct. 29 hosting Kirkwood.
The Wildcats won 2-0 in a previous conference game against rival, Lafayette, Oct. 22.
The team start district games Monday, Nov. 4, and if they win, they will play in the district championship Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Their regular season record is currently 12-6.
