Winter sports preview
Boys Basketball
Varsity boys basketball began their season with a win against Hillsboro, 52-41, Dec.11.
The team will play rivals Lafayette, Friday, Dec. 20.
The Wildcats won both games last season against Lafayette with thrilling scores of 64-57 and 50-49.
They will proceed to play Saturday, Dec. 21 against Timberland.
Last season, the Wildcats went 16-11.
After winter break, they will start up with a home game against Parkway North, Friday, Jan. 3 onto an away game against Rockwood Summit, Tuesday, Jan. 7, then host Marquette Friday, Jan 10.
Girls Basketball
The varsity girls team started their season with a win against St. Charles 58-40, Dec. 5. Eureka then fell to Fort Zumwalt South, 65-49 and Parkway North, 66-54.
The team participated in the Troy Pepsi-Cola Invitational Dec. 7 and won 58-48 against St. Dominic.
Following the boys, the team will play Lafayette Friday, Dec. 20.
Last season, they won big against Washington and Jennings with scores of 56-23 and 56-31, which they hope to repeat.
Hoping to improve this season, the team went 13-12-1 last season.
Girls Swim
Starting the season off, the girls team placed second, just points behind Marquette at the Marquette Relays, Dec.7. Seven other teams competed.
The girls swim team opened up to a loss at their first home meet with a score of 105-81 against Parkway West, Dec. 12.
They will host Parkway South, Friday, Dec. 20.
Boys Wrestling
The boys wrestling team started the season with a win against Lindbergh, 42-25, Nov. 26, similar to last year’s win, 42-30.
The team lost to Seckman, 51-21 Dec. 4, and Lafayette 46-28, Dec. 11.
This season, they will participate in multiple tournaments including Missouri Duals, St. Charles West and Winnetonka.
Coming up, the team will face Parkway South, Wednesday, Jan. 15 at home and travel to Northwest, Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Girls Wrestling
The girls wrestling team also began the season with a match against Lindbergh with a tough loss, 36-21. They then took on Seckman, Dec. 4 and won, 33-27.
The team repeated a tough loss to Lafayette, Dec.11.
Coming up, the team will host Parkway South, Wednesday, Jan. 15 and Northwest, Wednesday, Jan. 22. They will compete in the St.Charles tournament along with the boys, Friday, Jan. 17.
