During a photoshoot during my freshman year, I was told by a teacher named Mr. Pearson, that if I didn’t join News Production next year he would go in and put the class on schedule “whether I liked it or not.” Four years later I could not be more grateful. For my past three years on staff, I have made the most amazing friends, made unforgettable memories, and learned so many invaluable life skills. Both Mr. Pearson and Mrs. Rogan have helped me foster a passion that has been the center of my high school career and will shape the rest of my education. The journalism room has become a second home for me at Eureka. I will never forget the late nights (where Tostitos chips fueled us all), the millions of streaming minutes we have donated to Taylor Swift, and the dozens of cookie cakes (for even the smallest of occasions/cats). Thank you Eureka Journalism, for everything!

At eleven years old, I proudly declared that I was going to be a journalist when I grew up. Despite having never done anything journalistic, I was set, and I was looking forward to Eureka journalism more than anything else. Now, as I reflect on my time with Eureka journalism, I’m so thankful that little old me included journalism in her life plans. The journalism room, through all of the changes in the past four years, has consistently been a place I’ve looked forward to going to. It’s the classroom that housed so many of my favorite high school memories, where I laughed the hardest, and where I produced my favorite work. It was so great that I didn’t hesitate to share every thought I’ve ever had about Taylor Swift or force my best friend to join journalism (Hey Cam!) While the thought of leaving makes me depressed, I’m so grateful for everyone who made this program such a great place to be. Younger me was not left disappointed.

Joining Eureka’s News Production class was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I knew when I was little that I wanted to write because I really enjoyed it. Working on staff for the Bugle for the last 4 years has been the greatest gift and changed my entire life and high school experience. Since being on staff and becoming editor, I now realize I want to major in Journalism Education and continue to help others grow their journalistic talents. I’m so upset my time on The Bugle has come to an end but I appreciate every opportunity it has brought me. Being on staff for the Bugle has given me some of the best memories I will never forget. The people on staff and the teachers who somehow dealt with our chaotic classes, are and were my biggest supporters and motivators. Thank you Eureka News Production for the hardest laughs, the best food parties, and the most amazing group of people. A class I will truly never forget.

Getting the opportunity to be on staff for the Bugle is one of the greatest opportunities I’ve gotten in all of high school. I was welcomed into the program and I immediately knew how safe of a place the journalism class was and how free I was to talk with everyone else. The Journalism program has brought me so much joy, and while my time in the program may have been short, the impact it has had on my life will last forever. The people in this program, have encouraged me every step of the way, showing me how true classmates should and can be. I’m forever grateful to this program for welcoming me with open arms and allowing me to truly be myself.
