Play coming to a halt, Isabel Cooper (11) snatches senior Jessica Brushaber’s regaining junior possession during the Powderpuff Football game, Oct. 5. “It was really intense, and everyone was super hyped up,” Cooper said. “It was really fun to be with everyone. I didn’t think I was going to be able to play, and whenever I got in there I was so excited. When I actually made a play and got someones flag it was awesome. I wasn’t mad when we lost because it was one of the closest games Eureka has seen in awhile and it was super fun.” The seniors won, 14-12.

Color guard leads marching band in the Eureka Days Parade as Alysha Leonard (11) waves her flag during on Main Street, Sept. 9. “It was my first fall guard and first parade, so I was nervous,” Leonard said. “A lot of my friends were in the crowd, so I got to wave to them while we were doing the routine. It helped me calm my nerves though knowing someone was supporting me.”

My favorite part of preforming at the games is showing everyone what weve been learning by playing the show music, Huntley said. After practicing for hours on marching and music, the shows give us time to piece it all together and show people how hard we work.

The tournament is held in honor of Kaela Marie Archambault, who tragically passed away in a car accident, Nov. 18, 2010. “We had never played kickball all together and didn’t expect much but then we started winning,” Coffey said. “It felt pretty great to win this game because at first we were down by five, but ended up mercy ruling this team.”

I scored a goal, which a lot of mid-field players don’t get the chance to do, Daffron said. I was so excited when I scored. Typically I just pass the ball, and someone else scores but this goal was mine. I was right there.

History in the making, Kurtis Winegardner (11) does a series of 550 LB squats to eventually become one of the now six kids to make the 1200 LB club in EHS’s history during the football teams “Night of Champions” where everyone runs drills and lifts weights, May 17. “I didn’t feel anything because I couldn’t feel my body. I was in a lot of pain probably, I don’t remember it that well,” Winegardner said. “It felt great to have my teammates cheering me on because I knew they had my back. In the end I was proud of myself.”

It was an overall win though,” Kunkel said. “They were the hardest team we’ve played this year and we competed with them the entire game.” The Wildcats lost, 2-5.
