King and queen, Meet this year’s homecoming royalty

On Saturday, September 24th, Eureka crowned its annual Homecoming king and queen.  The honor went to Seniors Katie Bauer and DaMarco Jackson.  This prestigious award is honored school wide and these recipients were well deserving of their titles.

Bauer is a well rounded student who is a proud member of EHS Tennis, Track, E-Crew, and Student Council.  Her bright smile lights up the face of those around her and is warm and kind to all.

“I like to talk to a lot of people, and I’m involved in a lot of things,” Bauer said. “I really enjoy getting to know new people.”

This is not the first time a Bauer has been elected as homecoming queen.  Katie’s sister, Julie Bauer, was elected back in 2009 by her senior class.

“I feel really special for winning,” Bauer said.  “I also felt pressure because my sister won her senior year too, it’s pretty cool that we both received the honor.”

There is no doubt that someone as outgoing and personable as Bauer is well deserving of such a coveted title within our school.

Our Homecoming king DaMarco Jackson is a powerful force in Eureka athletics as a star in both football and wrestling.  Although he may seem intimidating to those who do not know him,Jackson’s personality is both forthcoming and pleasant to all.

“People chose me to be Homecoming king because of the person I am,” Jackson said.  “I’m a cool guy, funny, and just a lovable person.”

The quest for king did not come easily for Jackson.  He faced fierce competition from fellow court nominees Vince Dotson and Sam Taff.

“It felt shocking because throughout the whole week a lot of people were saying that it was going to be close with me and Sam because they wanted him to win on his birthday,” said Jackson.

Jackson prevailed despite the heavy competition and earned himself a spot in Eureka Homecoming history.

These two students are prime examples of model students within our high school.  They are hardworking, diligent, and fun to be around, which is why they are more than deserving to be this year’s homecoming royalty.
