Alex Hillyer signs with Missouri State basketball

NFL coaching great Vince Lombardi once said, “The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.”   Hard work is exactly the price that Alex Hillyer (12) paid on her trail to the collegiate basketball level.

Hillyer recently made her verbal commitment to Missouri State official by signing to become the most recent addition to next year’s basketball team.

“I was really excited to finally make it official,” Hillyer said. “The coaching staff and the team are great and I can’t wait to play for them.”
Hillyer’s 6 feet 3 inch frame paired with her ball handling and rebounding abilities make her a formidable foe for any who dare to challenge this basketball beast.

Last season Hillyer averaged 20.2 points, 10 rebounds and 3.4 blocks while leading the Wildcats to a 20-7 record, according to stltoday.com.

Hillyer is looking to lead the Lady Wildcats off to a good start and hopefully make a run in the postseason when the time comes.

Hillyer had to choose between many schools.

“I was looking at over a hundred schools and I chose Missouri State because it was close to home and I felt like I fit right in with their program,” Hillyer said. “Whenever I’m there I just get the feeling that I belong here.”

Haley Albert (12) was by Hillyer’s side throughout the whole process.

“I was really happy for her,” Albert said. “It’s a huge step in her basketball career and I know she will have a have a lot of fun.”
There is undoubtedly a much greater level of competition at the collegiate level but Hillyer is certainly ready to take on the challenges ahead.
