Focusing on her work of art, Taylor Emery (12) uses a pumpkin to sculpt a design in Ms. Erin Miller’s fourth hour Sculpture 1 class, Oct. 31. “I’m trying to make a surfer,” Emery said. “I’ve been talking to my Australian friends lately and I miss them, so I was trying to do a tribute to Sydney and the ocean.” Adding a little festive cheer to this holiday, Sculpture 1 strayed from the normal and decided to sculpt pumpkins. “They wanted to do something fun for Halloween and are carving pumpkins,” Ms. Miller said. “We looked at some actual contemporary pumpkin sculptors before we did this, but they’re just kind of having fun.”
