EHS hosted the Veterans Day celebration, which many veterans from the community attend. Every year EHS receives a proclamation for Veterans Day from the mayor of Eureka. This year he was absent however, so Eureka Alderman Mr. Wes Sir stepped in and gave the proclamation to Mrs. Jennifer Strauser, associate principal. “Veterans Day is really important to our school, especially because so many of our student’s lives have been taken up with the war in Iraq and what is going on overseas in the Middle East. I don’t want them to them to forget the other wars,” Mrs. Strauser said. “I really like that veterans come back and people are in the building and see how awesome our kids are at lunch when they’re independent and still behaving themselves. It’s also important for our students to put a face with those images and things they’re learning about in history class.”
