Conner Bemis (12) passed out bracelets, warning people about the effects of heroin, Aug. 20. In 2010 alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 38,329 fatal drug overdoses in the United States. Bemis works at Poor Richards where a young woman passed away not to long ago due to an overdose. “I’m passing out bracelets to raise awareness,” Bemis said. “Just because we don’t hear about it that often in Eureka doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.”
