2016 Staff

Editor-in-chief
Leads by example. Ultimate organizer. Oversees all section editors. Ultimately responsible for all content on site. Assigns coverage. Runs the staff calendar and board. Sits in on all conferences. Ultimate problem solver. Writes monthly column. Oversees staff editorial, which runs at least every two weeks. Solicits letters-to-the-editor.

Section editors: Know of everything in and around the community, especially in regards to their section. Support and assist their staff members.

Features editor: Emily Grossnicklaus
Creates and maintains features stories idea list. Works with opinions writers throughout entire story process: brainstorming, photo coverage, writing conferences, editing, etc. Help and shape the opinions writers’ voices. Also write stories. Also writes stories.

Reporters:
Contribute to story ideas list. Cover stories, including a minimum of three sides with three people from each side, alternative coverage and illustrative photos.

  • Hunter Mulholland: Contribute to sports story ideas list. Cover sports stories, including a minimum of three sides with three people from each side, alternative coverage and illustrative photos.
  • Tyler Price: Just in case… review latest apps, technology, shows, etc.
  • Contribute to sports story ideas list. Cover sports stories, including a minimum of three sides with three people from each side, alternative coverage and illustrative photos.

Ads manager
Supports news production and yearbook through sales of online and print ads (yearbooks). Manages budget and creates and updates all ads materials. Contacts ads purchasers for potential sales, ad sales information and payment collection. Maintains ads sales database. All ads must be paid for before publication.

Ads staff: Zach Christensen
Contribute to potential customer list. Develops relationships with community businesses. Routinely touches base with potential and current advertisers. Designs ads. Follows-up on ads sales and collects payment for ads.

Online community manager: Madison Eble
Assesses Analytics. Social media (Twitter and facebook) coverage of daily community events and maintenance of the site. Curates Tagboards when not covering events. Promotes publications content and tagboard events. Explores new coverage. Maintains ehs_hub Google calendars  ([email protected]) for academics, clubs, leisure and sports.

Photo Staff:
Shoots life at EHS daily. Chooses Photos of the Week, captions those photos and prepares copies of those photos for publication on wall and site.

Sports editor:
Creates and maintains sports stories idea list. Works with sports writers throughout entire story process: brainstorming, photo coverage, writing conferences, editing, etc. Help and shape the sports writers’ voices. Also write stories. Supports Sports Center staff and checks to make sure all information is updated daily.

Sports Center staff:
Posts rosters within a week of cuts. Populates the sports calendar by no later than a week before the season begins. Updates scores within 24 hours of games for all levels.

Sports staff:
Contribute to sports story ideas list. Cover sports stories, including a minimum of three sides with three people from each side, alternative coverage and illustrative photos.

Opinions:
Creates and maintains opinions stories idea list. Works with opinions writers throughout entire story process: brainstorming, photo coverage, writing conferences, editing, etc. Help and shape the opinions writers’ voices. Also write stories. Also writes stories. Solicits letters-to-the-editor.

Opinions staff: Contribute to opinions story ideas list. Write opinions stories, including research from each side and illustrative photos.

Editorial board

  • Meets and discusses problems and concerns from week to week.
  • Takes a stance on an issue and contributes a signed editorial for the Opinions page.
  • Responsible for letters-to-the-editor.
  • May take an active role in deciding content and design for the publication.
