Local

Know: Multiple clubs have chosen to Adopt A Family this holiday season, including our NHS, StuCo, Renaissance and etc…

Inform: Families adopted by the Adopt A Family Holiday Project create their own personal wishlist for Christmas, which is filled with everyday necessities and gifts. The Department of Human Services catalogs families in the St. Louis area and their needs, aiding to coordinate the project. The Adopt A Family Holiday Project helps 3,400 county families each holiday season.

Care: The EHS community continues to shine by thinking of others during this time, ensuring deserving families a memorable, cherished holiday season. Over 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 a day. The EHS community is giving back to the world, one family at a time.

National

Know: Fourteen people were left dead, 17 wounded with 10 left in critical condition following the mass shooting in California, Dec. 2.

Inform: The two suspects, Syed Rizwan Farook and suspected wife, Tashfeen Malik, were killed by police in a shootout after a high speed chase. One police officer was shot, but he is not suffering a life threatening injury and is expected to heal.

Care: Since this is considered the worst mass attack since the Sandy Hook shooting, December 2012, showing the same amount of love and support around the nation should be prioritized. Terrible occurrences can happen anywhere at anytime, even in the Eureka community. Today, for instance, there was a modified lockdown of EHS while police investigated a nearby neighborhood.

International

Know: Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and chief executive of the worldwide corporation facebook (world’s most definitive social network), and his wife, Priscilla Chan, vowed to donate 99% of the shares to charitable causes during their lifetime in a letter to their newborn daughter Maxima Chan Zuckerberg.

Inform: The facebook shares are currently worth $45 billion, and the money will go towards personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities around the world.

Care: The motive behind this outrageously generous donation is their daughter and her future generation. Zuckerberg and Chan set an example for people to look beyond their own lives and consider the impact their actions have on future generations, stating “…we will leave your generation a much better world.”
