Donating money can help buy supplies for victims or send a volunteer down to areas in need of relief. Victims are left with nothing.
“We deploy local volunteers,” Myers said. “We have sent 97 of our volunteers from St. Louis to help in both Texas and Florida. It costs $1,650 to deploy a volunteer. That’s kind of a good amount to raise for a volunteer to go out. It’s a neat thing to know that you are supporting our local efforts since other Red Cross chapters deploy volunteers for these big disasters as well.”
St. Louis is the location one of the Red Cross’s national warehouse centers making these local donations a direct way to help hurricane survivors.
