For many seniors, nostalgia is like a collection of stories that is carried with them every day and taken into adulthood. It is a reminiscent feeling that connects the children they were to the young adults they are becoming today. While they might feel a tug of sadness for the people and places that are gone, These memories also bring them a lot of pride and hope for the future. As they continue to grow up, they hold onto those old memories and traditions to help them feel a sense of comfort for what’s to come as they are getting older.
Many long lasting memories are created throughout the elementary years. Enjoying magical books as a little kid lets the mind wonder creatively and imagine a fake reality. This experience is very popular for most students and creates an abundance of joy.
Ella Lindsay, 12, loves reminiscing on the past and treasures many important moments from her childhood.
“The Magic Tree House series is the most nostalgic book series for me. My kindergarten teacher would read us one of those books every day, and they were so fun to imagine as a young child,” Lindsay said.
It isn’t just the books that leave a memorable mark, it’s the traditions crafted by educators. For many students, the elementary years hold yearly traditions that younger students watch from afar, counting down the days until it is fnally their turn to create that everlasting memory.
Ella Lindsay loves reflecting upon old memories that made her childhood so fun and memorable.
“In fifth grade, I went to JA BizTown. All of elementary school I was looking forward to this field trip, it was such a fun experience with my classmates, and I felt so grown up by being able to do a job and seeing how everything worked.”, Lindsay said.
Children love always having a friend by their side. For many, that friend is a stuffed animal they take with them throughout their life’s experiences. These stuffed animals may just seem like a simple toy, but they hold a lot of value. Getting to bring a friend alongside all new and exciting adventures feels like someone is always getting to enjoy the same things and will be by your side throughout life. The true significance of these companions lies in their role as a living record of experiences.
Abbie Lasley,12, cherishes her stuffed animal very much.
“I have a very special bear with my name sewn on it that I would carry with my blanket when I was younger, which comforted me through many times”, Lasley said.
As these seniors prepare to turn the page on their high school careers, they do not leave these childhood treasures behind, instead, they carry them into the future. These memories and treasures serve as a reminder of where they started.
