With graduation coming up for the class of 2026 seniors, numerous exciting activities start to play out in celebration of the end of their high school career. Senior Assassin is a game where students throughout the senior class get assigned targets that they have to shoot with water guns to eliminate the player. But the catch is, players have to also protect themselves wearing immunity such as pool floaties or goggles to continue to stay in the game. The big cash prize for the winners keeps this game thrilling and is amplified by the suspense of not knowing who might be trying to get you out.
Dakalo Munyai, 12, shares his story about being one of the first players eliminated, ruining his chances at the big cash prize.
“I got eliminated on the field after track practice. I wasn’t wearing my immunity and they shot me with the water gun,” Munyai said.
However, there is some discussion about whether track practice had concluded. School hours and practice times are generally off-limits for eliminations. Some believe this was an instance of rule-bending.
“Its debatable if practice was really over. I think it shouldn’t have counted,” Munyai said.
Not all early eliminations come with the same controversy. Some players are taken out in strategic ways, showing how quickly the game can shift depending on awareness and communication. In some cases, players utilize inside information to their advantage. Anna Brotherton, 12, shares her story of eliminating her opponent.
“One of my friends called me and told me he was at the gym and had no immunity, so I ran to my car and drove over to get him out,” Brotherton said.
Players must act quickly when given an opportunity, often having to rely on fast thinking and urgency to stay competitive. But offense isn’t the only focus of the game, maintaining protection at all times is critical for survival.
“I wear my goggles everywhere I go, even in my house,” Brotherton said.
As the game continues, Senior Assassin not only adds excitement to the final months of high school, but also creates fun memories to never be forgotten.
