As the temperature drops, excitement is heating up here at Eureka! Get ready to trade your textbooks for tuxedos because Winter Formal is just around the corner. With the hard work of the Eureka student council members, this year’s dance promises a night of unforgettable memories, dazzling decorations and of course, killer tunes.
StuCo members often create or source decorations to match the theme, transforming the space. They also handle promotion, making posters, using social media and getting the word out during announcements. Plus, they’re usually on hand during the dance to make sure everything runs smoothly, dealing with any issues that pop up. Basically, they’re involved in every step to make it a memorable night for everyone. Jordan McDaniel, 11, chair of the winter formal, explains that the StuCo staff decided to prepare early in order to finish projects earlier in time for the dance.
“Preparing for the Winter Formal would typically be during the second week of January, but we decided to prepare early, and meet up at Haley Meeks house over winter break, and began to work on tarps for about four hours,” McDaniel said.
The StuCo staff strives to complete the process of the Winter Formal for the students at Eureka in a motivational and positive environment, according to Anna Coppin, 12, chair of the winter formal.
“The most exciting part for preparing for the Winter Formal would be getting to work with the other chairs, and create our own visions for the dance,” Coppin said.
In most projects people will eventually end up facing challenges in the process, and according to Haley Meek, 12, also a chair of the Winter Formal, they have been faced with a challenge during the process.
“The biggest challenge we are facing in the process is trying to find the time to finish the wall in time for the dance, but it hasn’t been a huge issue,” Meek said.
As we enter the new year with coming up dances, Eureka students are curious about what changes could be made to them.
“This Winter Formal is different from previous years because we have a couple new cool ideas for the entrance way, lights and also a gauzy idea for the entrance way or the ceiling,” Coppin clarifies.
In conclusion, Eureka High school Winter Formal showcased the spirit and unity of our student body, providing a much-needed break from the pressures of academics and a chance to celebrate the joy of friendship. The success of the Winter Formal highlighted the importance of school traditions and the impact they have on our community. The collective effort of the StuCo staff resulted in an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
“The most exciting part for preparing for the Winter Formal would be getting to create such a fun and pretty dance for the students at Eureka to enjoy,” McDaniel said.
