This is Emery's second year on staff where she serves as the climate manager for the Eurekana 2018 staff. One word to describe her: outgoing. Conversation she wants to have with the world: "Don't let negative people control your life choices." At Eureka Emery is involved in Golden Line, NHS, Stuco, E-Crew, and SADD. Outsid eof school she also dances. Emery's dream job is to "travel around the world with the Red Cross."

Soccer game happening behind them, Audrey Nettles (12) and Lauren Munn (10) joke around during the Special Olympics at Lafayette High School, April 27. “I loved the Special Olympics,” Nettles said. “It was cool seeing students who don’t always get a chance to be an athlete have that opportunity. They got to do a variety of events and everyone gets a ribbon. My favorite part was watching how happy everyone was after they won or just competing. They were still happy even if they didn’t win.”

Plugging numbers in from the unit circle, Emily Holtzman (11) works on her homework in Lyndsey Critchell’s second hour Trigonometry class, Nov. 9. “The hardest part of taking trigonometry is the fact that it seems to be a fairly good mix of Algebra 2 and Geometry,” Holtzman said. “When you think of math, its normally associated with numbers. Meanwhile theyre teaching us equations with things like cos, sin, and tan, which is confusing. To get through the difficulty, I just keep redoing the problems and trying them in every different way I can until I can get it right. I do all the homework assigned so I get as much practice as possible.”

It was something you don’t do often. I wasn’t nervous. I play with fire so it is something I was used to. I like to see all the chemical reactions in fire and watching things burn.”

Christella Payne (11) completes her virtual reality course in Doug Dietrichs second hour Personal Finance and Business class, Oct. 19. “I took this course because learning about business will benefit me when I get out of high school,” Payne said. “I can always rely on knowing this information in the future. I like this class because instead of being project based it is mostly memory. We don’t have lots of deadlines, but we just have to memorize and take tests over the notes we take.”

Tires receiving his attention, Harry Hill (10) scrubs down a car at Valvoline Instant Oil Change for the wrestling team’s car wash fundraiser, which was raising money for out-of-state competitions, Sept. 16. I got to hang out with all the team and meet a lot of the freshmen on a personal level,” Hill said. “It was team bonding for us. When we were trying to get people to come in with the signs, we still made it fun by dancing around and having fun. It was successful overall. We had more cars than last year. It was also cool to see the staff from school come out to support us.” The Wildcats raised $1,300 dollars.

I scored a goal, which a lot of mid-field players don’t get the chance to do, Daffron said. I was so excited when I scored. Typically I just pass the ball, and someone else scores but this goal was mine. I was right there.

Lafayette definitely came out prepared and we were definitely more flat on our feet than we should have been. It was a rougher loss than usual, but our team is a family,” Kerr said. “Personally I felt like I was doing a good job. I let in eight but I stopped more than half of the shots so it was a good game for me.” The Wildcats lost, 7-8.

In the beginning we came out flat and had to pick it up in the end. They were actually good,” Daniels said. “It would have hurt bad if we would have lost because Summit is known for being not so great. The fact that we could have a not-so-great game and still end up pulling through and winning by quite a substantial amount, that was awesome.” The Wildcats won, 10-5.
