A boys varsity basketball win, wrestling state and focusing in on class time

Feb. 16 to 22

Opponent defeated, Jacob McCollum, 220 lbs, wins by fall over Simon Tesfamarian, Park Hill, to advance him to the second round of Class 4 State Championship wrestlebacks at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Feb.16. “ It was a great experience,” McCollum said. “I lost my first match, so I was in do-or-die matches the whole tournament. I made it to the wrestlebacks and was a win away from placing, so that was a bummer when I lost. I still had a blast competing and seeing the other studs on the team win their matches, too. After wrestling, we all went to eat and hang out. Those of us who aren’t seniors are already looking what we can do together in the offseason. I am going to go to a lot of practices with my teammates this spring so that we can come back to state next year and place not only higher as individuals but also as a team.” Kyle Dickhaus,182 lbs, placed 3rd, Matt Gentry,195 lbs, took 6th, and Brendan Carter, 285 lbs, took 3rd.
